I'm the photographer behind Memories by Mae.
Photography, for me, has always been about more than images. It is about keeping hold of the things that pass quickly. The quiet in-between moments, the laugh nobody posed for, the way people are with each other when they forget there is a camera in the room.
When I am not shooting, I am usually outside, somewhere new, or planning the next trip. A lot of how I see comes from that.
What I want you to leave with is not only good photographs but a morning you actually enjoyed. In my experience the two arrive together.
Most people tell me they're awkward in front of a camera. Almost everyone says it, which should tell you something.
Here's how I handle it. I don't pose you into shapes. I give you something to do, walk, talk, react to each other, and I photograph what happens in between. The first ten minutes usually feel strange. Then everyone forgets I'm there, and that is when the photographs start.
You'll know where to meet me, what to wear, and what happens next, because I'll have told you before the day. And you'll see a few favourites within 48 hours, because waiting a month to see anything at all is unbearable.
Tell me what you have in mind. Even if it is vague. I read every inquiry myself and reply within 24 to 48 hours.
